Acupunture + Nidra

Acupuncture + Nidra

with Rachael & Sasha

Friday, January 24 @ 6p
*75 minutes |
$55

**Class size is limited to 10 participants**

Winter is the season of Yin - slowing down, rest, and restoration.

In traditional Chinese medicine, winter is also the season of the kidneys. The kidneys are responsible for growth, development, fertility and considered the root of our energy. Acupuncture can help strengthen and balance the kidneys.

Yoga Nidra is the antidote to over-stimulation:
the complete surrender of mind and body into rest.

Through combining these experiences, Sasha will create a space of deep rest, while Rachael places acupuncture needles along the kidney meridian points. While allowing the acupuncture to remain in place, your Nidra practice will invite deeper restoration and acupressure will be applied through hands-on touch to further enhance your experience.

What can I expect?

**Once registered, you will be emailed an intake form to fill out prior to your experience.

Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to get settled in.

After you arrive, Rachael & Sasha will introduce the concepts of Nidra, winter, acupuncture & your kidney meridian. You'll then move into about 10 minutes of gentle stretches and qigong movements. From here, you'll prep for Nidra by settling onto your mat with about 5 minutes of centering & breath practices to clear the body and mind.

You'll be resting on your mat, supported by bolsters and blankets, generally on your back, for the majority of the practice.

You'll be welcome to use additional bolsters, blankets, eye covers, to help with your Nidra Experience. Dress in loose fitting cozy gear.

Once settled for Nidra, Rachael will place 8-10 acupuncture needles, which will remain in place for around 30 minutes. She will be monitoring throughout the practice to help ease your comfort.

Needles will be removed upon completion, leaving space for about 5-10 minutes of additional rest before completing the practice.

*Acupuncture points may include head, ears, feet, ankles, arms, wrists, and hands.*

Sasha & Rachael will apply acupressure (applying gentle pressure on specific points of the body) throughout the experience.

*Our studio provides mats, blankets, bolsters, and eye pillows.
You are welcome to bring your own items of comfort.

About Sasha

I started out personal training in 2009, with the goal to help accomodate and inspire strength & growth in creative ways. It didn't take long to notice stress, adrenal fatigue, and body shame was rampant amongst the people I worked with, and I began introducing & guiding my clients through meditation, mindfulness, breathing practices. In 2016, I started my personal Yoga practice, and I began my Yoga Training one year later.

I believe and aim to embody movement as medicine. I believe that accessibility is essential, and strength & mobility should go hand-in hand, which is why we need to learn more about how everything is interconnected!

My journey has evolved so many times, and I've walked hundreds of people through their emotional and physical journeys. While bodies, lifestyles, and priorities change, this remains the same: I see you, I believe in you. You can and you will.

About Rachael

Rachael Tax is a board-certified and licensed practitioner of acupuncture and Oriental medicine.

An Army veteran and native of Fremont, she has returned to her West Michigan roots to offer this special therapy to the local community. Oftentimes a fervent career in non-conventional medicine begins with one’s success as a patient of that medicine. This was the case for Rachael.

Nearly ten years ago she dove deeply into the idea of “food as medicine” and holistic healing to overcome a personal health struggle. Moreover, acupuncture was instrumental to her military-to-civilian transition after eight years in the active duty Army. Rachael knew that Oriental medicine was her next calling. Coupled with her propensity for listening and genuine care for patients, Rachael has found true joy in this profession

The applications of acupuncture and Oriental medicine are nearly limitless. Rachael has a passion for internal conditions, especially those pertaining to the gastrointestinal system, women’s health, sleep, and stress. She has experience treating a wide array of musculoskeletal complaints, from osteoarthritic knees, to chronic or acute low back pain, stiff neck, and frozen shoulder.

Additionally, Rachael holds a certification in cosmetic acupuncture and is pleased to offer safe, relaxing, and non-invasive facial rejuvenation protocols.
